Capcom is remastering the original Resident Evil that started it all. Resident Evil (remastered) will released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The release date is due early 2015 and will be a digital download only, the new remastered version is not a straight port form the original PlaySation 1996 version but instead a heightened version of the “ReMake” released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002. This remastered version will include 1080p HD visuals (720p for PS3 and Xbox 360) and 5.1 surround support across all consoles.
The price is yet to be announced in the US, but it will cost 3990 yen (about £23) in Japan, which releases their Xbox 360 and PS3 versions before Christmas.
The game will allow you to play in its original 4:3 ratio or in 16:9 widescreen, and have a option of classic control layout or modern.
A new feature is the scrolling camera, which purist may not like due to the change in the original fixed angles. The scrolling camera seems like an “okay” work around for playing widescreen compared to the original fixed and dynamic camera.
The original Resident Evil control layout will remain as it always been and a modern style movement has been added for the new comers. The modern control layout allows for easier control since it focuses the characters movement with the exact direction of the analog stick.
A grainy photo of the iconic Resident Evil mansion first appeared online from the GameCube’s redesigned version.
Resident Evil was first released in 1996 Sony PlayStation 1, but was then re-made from the ground up for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002. This Gamecube remake of Resident Evil was then ported to the Nintendo Wii.
Although the Gamecube remake was a Nintendo exclusive there are no plans for the remastered version to be released on the Nintendo Wii U.
